7 Steps to Finding the Wedding Gown of Your Dreams

With so many styles to choose from, finding the perfect wedding gown can be an overwhelming experience. Dream Wedding’s Founder, Mrs. Ivy shared her experience in helping her clients find the perfect dress for their big day. Knowing these tips will also help you find the wedding gown of your dreams.

1. Look Ahead of Time

Start looking three to six months before their actual wedding day. This provides enough buffer for the designer to complete any alterations and ensure the gown will be a perfect fit to your body.

“If you insist on a more elaborate design to keep and pass on to your future daughter, or any other thing to make your dream wedding come true, we’re ready. Just try to tell us ahead of time,” said Mrs. Ivy.

2. Know Your Priorities

Tailor your budget to match your priorities. If fashion is more important to you than, say, flowers or bands, it makes sense to divert some of those funds to your gown and accessories. Some wedding planners in Singapore combine top wedding photography service and bridal boutique service to create wedding packages with better value for your hard-earned money.

3. Start Your Way Up

Dream Wedding has one of the largest collection of wedding gowns in Singapore that you can choose from, including plus size wedding gowns. Mrs. Ivy suggests starting from the less expensive models and moving onto more expensive ones. That way, you won’t break your own heart by falling in love with a dress you can’t afford.

4. Bring References

Take anything you know you want to wear to the appointment, such as a special necklace from your grandmother or that gorgeous bra you just bought. Bring photos of where your wedding ceremony and reception will be held. Knowing them will help the consultant find the matching gown for your wedding location. Singapore can be very hot, so you wouldn’t want to sweat ruining your appearance on the most important day of your life.

5. Don’t Accessorize Yet

If you have been shopping for accessories for the wedding, you may be hindering yourself from finding the right wedding gown! In fact, you would most likely pick a dress that complements your accessories when it should be the other way around! Avoid this common mistake and the hassle of trying to return nonrefundable items.

6. Audience is Optional

Bring one of two people who know your taste, whose judgment you trust, and who can be honest with you. Too many opinions may be detrimental to your dress search. If this is your first appointment, it is perfectly normal to go alone — not to mention stress-free.

7. Book Early in the Day

“We have had clients trying to cram an appointment between their errands. Feeling rushed to make a decision is certainly a frustrating experience for all parties involved,” recall Mrs. Ivy.

There will be many gowns that you want to try on, and for each of those, you need to try to move around. This will take a lot of your time, so it’s better to make an appointment to find your perfect wedding gown in the morning or early afternoon as you are most fresh for the day!
